Portland Building Preservation Trust

Following a 2 year spell in Dorset, working as Design and Conservation Officer for the old Weymouth and Portland Borough Council and Purbeck District Council (now part of Dorset Council unitary authority) I am now involved with and was instrumental in the setting up of Portland Building Preservation Trust. Among its first projects is the restoration of the Portland Windmills.

The trust seek to restore the windmills and the first phase of enabling works has begun to the South mill. The two mills are currently in separate ownership and it is hoped that restoration can be conducted to both as a combined project. Once the South mill has been cleaned (internally) it is planned to carry out a point cloud survey of the site. This will help inform the next phase of a restoration project.

If you are interested in this project or would like further information the trust currently runs a facebook page and you can communicate direct, or please get back to me via my contact page.
